The Boise Gravel Gala Story

The Boise Gravel Gala started the way many great events do, with a small group of friends and a big idea.

After returning to Idaho in 2018, Chris and Ami began organizing challenging gravel routes and gathering a tight-knit crew of adventure-minded riders who were always up for the challenge. In 2019, seven friends set out on the first Boise Gravel Gala in cold, snowy conditions, with Chris’s dad, Doug, following along to keep spirits high with snacks and well-earned beers. It was equal parts grit and fun, and it set the tone for everything that followed.

In 2020, the group grew. Better weather, more riders, and the addition of volunteers made it possible to offer support along the way and finish the day with a laid-back pizza gathering. By 2021, the event found a home base at Hops & Bottles and opened its doors to the broader community. What started as a grassroots ride quickly became something special.

Over the years, the Boise Gravel Gala built a reputation for tough routes, welcoming vibes, and a strong sense of community. That foundation is a direct result of the passion and effort Chris and Ami put into creating something unique in the Treasure Valley gravel scene.

In 2026, Twisted Turtle Racing is proud to carry that legacy forward. Our goal is simple: preserve the spirit of the original ride while continuing to grow and refine the experience for both new and returning riders.
